The Organization:
Congregation Har HaShem (HHS) is a warm, progressive, inclusive, and down-to-earth
community comprised of authentic people of integrity. Congregants are social justice oriented
and live the values of Tikkun Olam. At HHS, emphasis is placed on creating a strong sense of
community, focusing on membership and meeting member’s needs. HHS is a diverse
community with a high percentage of interfaith families, many Jews by choice, and queer
friendly. Stakeholders describe HHS as “an easy place to feel comfortable” and one where

Position Overview
Congregation Har HaShem is a vibrant, inclusive community where we strive to have every individual feel seen, valued, and embraced. These foundational values will guide and shape everything we do as we launch our afterschool enrichment program.
The Afterschool Program Coordinator is responsible for many aspects of launching and running a dynamic after school enrichment program! This includes marketing to raise awareness about the program, creating infrastructure for procedures, working with curriculum and lesson planning, hiring, developing and managing the teaching team, event planning, parent communications and engagement, enrollment, and student management.
The categories of responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Program Development
Work with marketing professional to develop and execute a strategy to promote the new afterschool program through email, social media, and community partnerships.
Promote the afterschool program within the local and broader community.
Attend PTA meetings, school events, and other local gatherings to raise awareness of the program.
Integrate the after school program with other programmatic offerings from Har HaShem.
Work with administrative staff and other professionals to develop and refine organization policies, procedures, and program initiatives.
Set up the new Afterschool space to be ready for the start of the school year, including setting up classrooms, ordering supplies, materials, securing transportation vehicles, etc.
Set a transportation schedule for the school year based on student enrollment.
Solicit and integrate audience feedback, always aiming to get better.
Customize and hone curriculum, vision, and approach to the Afterschool Community program. This includes creating an intentionally community-centered environment.
Driving Enrollment
Follow up with leads generated by marketing efforts, and foster continual communication with interested leads
Recruit new families through online sources, Open Houses, Back to School night, festivals, and other promotional events.
Take families out to coffee, ice cream, etc. as part of the enrollment process to get to know families better and encourage them to enroll.
Lead tours for new families and interested parties.
Team Management
At times, the Afterschool Coordinator may also serve as a teacher. The nitty-gritty of this will be determined throughout the onboarding process.
In collaboration with the Director of Lifelong Learning (DLL), recruit, hire, and train Afterschool Community teachers, assistant teachers, and specialists as needed.
In collaboration with the DLL, plan and run Teacher Training at the beginning of the school year in concert with the other Afterschool Community Directors.
Plan and run staff meetings for the Afterschool Community team.
Support teachers as needed with lesson planning, discipline challenges, etc.
Support your team of teachers during operating hours.
Cultivate a positive, hardworking, supportive culture among staff.
Recruit and manage volunteers, as needed.
Family Relationship Management
Go above and beyond what parents expect including sending “happy emails,” regular and personal check-ins, etc.
Send weekly newsletters and program updates to Afterschool Community parents.
Communicate with parents during work hours by phone, email and in-person meetings about their children's experience.
Be the point of contact for all questions and information about the Jewish Afterschool Community.
Operations Management
Handle any on-site facilities issues as they arise by notifying appropriate parties or taking action as needed, including playground and building maintenance if applicable.
Organize and maintain the administrative side of the Afterschool program (student/teacher files, enrollment documents, organization of lesson plans, etc.)
Purchase program supplies and snacks as needed.
Manage budget and spending for the Afterschool program.
Implement all safety protocols on a daily basis.
School’s Out Camp Days
Plan and implement the programming and staff for all School’s Out Camp days throughout the semester. This includes:
Tracking student enrollment.
Arranging for guest presenters and field trips (if applicable).
Creating and maintaining a daily schedule.
Hiring, managing, and prepping the team for their roles.
Communications with parents and staff around camp logistics.
Special Events
Create and execute co-sponsored events with other programs hosted by your parent organization to help drive new enrollment.
Attend and help plan special events as needed. Some examples include Shabbat Potluck dinners and end of year ceremonies.
Compensation
The salary for this position ranges from $55,000 to $62,000, depending on experience. Additional benefits include healthcare, dental, and retirement plans (eligible after the first year), paid time off, and short- and long-term disability coverage.
